If you have come across our socials and watched some of our videos, you may be familiar with what I do! Hi there, I am Rachel from Malaysia and one half of The Expats Club!
My fiance and I started this back in 2024 and to think that this had built into such an active community with thousands of followers across the world is crazy! I started Instagram and Tiktok for The Expats Club back in July last year. You see, I do social media marketing for a living and after years of being under horrible agencies I decided to start my own company and I needed a solid portfolio. Hence, The Expats Club!
I saw a need for a market to localise foreigners in Malaysia and the goal of the page was to teach travelers and expats here “How to Malaysianise yourself”. My very first video was teaching expats here about local wet markets to shop in to save money, and it honestly did pretty well!
While Joshua was building the website and the Whatsapp community, I wanted a way to reach out to people to tell them we exist and social media did just that. In just a few months and with a few viral videos, our page has massively grown and I am so thankful for it! Safe to say we have one of the biggest growing expat communities in Malaysia!
The power of social media has honestly been crrraaazyyyy! We are often getting enquiries daily about tips to move to Malaysia and it's amazing! Getting to know everyone and then meeting them in real life and seeing them settling down here feels like a pat on the back for us. Who knew that just a few lucky videos and posts would be here.
